There is nothing more tranquil and idyllic than taking a mindful walk in the countryside admiring the breathtakingly beautiful views combined with the changing seasons. I can find the same spot stood on a particular country lane gazing out into the distance different even though I have seen it many times but due the changing seasons I find it fascinating. From the patchwork-like fields trimmed with crimson red berry hedgerows to glorious birdsong and the crisp chill in the air: I adore the countryside.
The poem "Autumn" by John Clare really sums up my feelings in regards to this season:
During the cooler months it is imperative to keep warm and cosy but also comfortable when walking. Owning a springer spaniel means I can be out in the cold for hours walking across lush fields or down winding country lanes therefore comfortable footwear, a warm coat and staples such as a wooly hat and a scarf are essential. I wanted this outfit to showcase that country walking can be stylish as well as practical. The outfit details can be found at the end of this post with links.
"The thistledown's flying, though the winds are all still,
On the green grass now lying, now mounting the hill,
The spring from the fountain now boils like a pot;
Through stones past the counting it bubbles red-hot.
The ground parched and cracked is like overbaked bread,
The greensward all wracked is, bents dried up and dead.
The fallow fields glitter like water indeed,
And gossamers twitter, flung from weed unto weed.
Hill-tops like hot iron glitter bright in the sun,
And the rivers we're eying burn to gold as they run;
Burning hot is the ground, liquid gold is the air;
Whoever looks round sees Eternity there."
A modern take on the traditional sheepskin jacket; a more relaxed style and the perfect cover-up for country walks (and stopping off at the local pub for a tipple.) Made from classic whiskey sheepskin with a contrast cream fleece lining includes traditional features such as leather football buttons and slanted side pockets. The sheepskin jacket is a wardrobe staple. Extremely comfortable and surprisingly flexible, the sheepskin jacket is utterly warming especially on a windy and blustery days. Handcrafted using locally sourced British sheepskins are a few of the features that make this jacket special.
A beautiful cable knit jumper featuring traditional patterns. A lightweight blend of cotton and lambswool; it has a relaxed-feel with rolled-edge hems. I have a deeply rooted affection for luxury knitwear as it's practical to wear when out walking on chilly days yet so versatile: can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. This particular jumper is excellent for just that. It looks stunning here when out walking Ben but I think would look delightful going out for lunch in a cosy country pub or meeting the ladies for afternoon tea. As it is a soft grey shade, it acts as a blank canvas if you will and can be pared with most accessories. I think a lovely tweed skirt would look charming pared with this jumper.
Carefully crafted from sueded leather, lace-up fronts and folded down cuffs in a cosy sheepskin contrast, these sturdy ridged-soled hiker boots are not only pleasing to admire but sturdy therefore ideal for country walks. As with any new shoes, they require "breaking-in" a little but these are so comfortable and do not rub on my heels as I walk. With a handsome tan hue and complimenting cream fur cuffs, it makes these boots versatile and suit any outfit. The hiker boots keep my feet toasty as well as the fur cuffs keeping my ankles warm which is ideal on any country pursuit.
An extremely comfortable wool-blend in charming oatmeal shade trimmed with a navy blue hue, these walking socks are a must for anyone who enjoys the delights of walking in the great outdoors. Shades include blackberry mix, forest mix and conker mix.
Fur Pom-Pom Hat
Adding a little bit of luxury to a cream knitted hat, this huge fur pom-pom is incredibly soft and the fawn colour really suits the cream backdrop of the wooly hat. Charmingly cosy and comfortable to wear; this is a staple for any chilly day. I purchased this hat at the Chatsworth country fair and is no longer available, however this hat is very similar.
Incredibly soft, cosy, wonderfully warm, toasty and that's just the few of the reasons why I love this scarf. I purchased this at their trade stand at the Chatsworth country fair but the website has some very similar styles. I adore the colours on the scarf from a rich plum to a soft mink shade.
