A while ago I went on a little shopping spree and I thought you might enjoy having a look at what I purchased. First up is Maybelline - vivid matte liquid in the shades "Nude Trill" and "Possessed Plum." I have always been a fan of Maybelline and was the first brand I ever purchased from when I was growing up into a young woman and starting to experiment with makeup. The vivid matte liquids come in 6 different shades from natural nudes to bright corals and deep plums to pretty pinks and they are currently on offer at Superdrug buy one get one half price. I have been using these regularly and I am delighted with the results. Very creamy and velvety smooth but don't dry the lips like other matte lip products. Nude Trill is a lovely natural shade that looks beautiful with a smoky eye and Possessed Plum is a deep vampy shade that makes a statement.
In Boots I purchased the Sleek Makeup - matte me ultra smooth matte lip cream in "Birthday Suit." The lip creams are available in 12 different shades with gorgeous names such as "Velvet Slipper" and "Petal." I have read lots of reviews that this is very close to the Kylie Cosmetics in "Dolce K." Sleek Makeup matte lip creams are more matte in appearance compared to Maybelline's vivid matte liquid and this particular shade is more neutral and has a slight pink undertone however, looks lovely with a bold eye makeup look.
I adore Essie nail polishes (who remembers the mint candy apple craze?) I was in Boots looking for a nude pink shade with a hint of colour and not too shimmery and immediately headed towards the Essie stand. With their array of beautiful shades and the wide brush makes application a breeze and that's why I love this brand so much. I was debating between two colours but ended up purchasing the shade "Romper Room" which is a delightful pale tea rose pink and has a wonderful glossy finish.
Since purchasing Maybelline's dream satin liquid foundation I have been using this meticulously. I find a little goes a very long way and melts into the skin seamlessly leaving the skin with a beautiful dewy glow. When I was in Superdrug I tried a few of the testers but found that the shade "Sand" was a perfect match for my skin tone. It provides a light to medium coverage and lasts throughout the day. I am really impressed and this could be my new staple foundation.
I love... bath and shower crèmes were in offer in Superdrug (buy one get one half price) and the aromas are divine. I picked up chocolate fudge cake and mango cheesecake. These are little luxuries should be an essential in any bathroom. The bath and shower crèmes produce delicately creamy bubbles which feels like laying on a bed of fluffy clouds. The mango cheesecake is a mouthwatering buttery vanilla scent quickly followed by a sweet mango top note. I like to pour a little under running water and lather up on a sponge for an intense pampering.
The chocolate fudge cake bath and shower crème although a less than appealing colour is in fact a gem for chocolate and foodie lovers. The aroma is replica of a freshly baked chocolate fudge cake and instills wonderful images of moist chocolate sponge with a gooey fudge filling seeping at the sides. I enjoy using these and make bath times a little extra special.
I ordered Fleur De Force's new book "The Luxe Life" from Amazon which is a wonderful addition to my bookcase. Featuring everyday luxuries for lovers of beauty, fashion and food: this is all my favourite things summed up in one beautifully presented book. It has a much more grown up approached compared to the previous book "The Glam Guide." I have this on my bedside and enjoy reading it before going to sleep.
My go-to quick fix for pretty nails. Elegant Touch totally bare oval are a natural shape and ideal for nail art or a simple manicure. I always use these as they are super quick (and purse friendly!) to do and last up to a week without damaging your natural nails. There are lots of other shapes to choose from and some that are pre-styled, painted and others with nail art and gems galore.
Harry Potter and the Cured Child has been on every fan's lips so naturally I had to purchase. When I was at the till I spotted the Harry Potter trivial pursuit game on offer and I couldn't resist. I have read the book so I won't leave an spoilers here but it is very interesting. The trivial pursuit game is brilliant for Harry Potter fans (maybe over a mug of butterbeer.)
Lastly, those of you who read my blog will know I adore the English countryside and spotted this book by Polly Bloom - Old Wives' Lore which delves into old fashioned tips, remedies and little gems of insight into the past.
